Ask Questions

One of the first things you'll see when you come into a Showhome is a Building Consultant. They’re there to answer any questions you have and to discuss your ideas with.

A good question to start with is the price of the Showhome. This will tell you straight away if you're looking at something that's within your budget or not. There's nothing more disappointing than getting your heart set on a Showhome you can't afford. 

Take photos

Take photos or make notes of the things you like (or dislike). Visiting Showhome after Showhome can get confusing and your brain will be swimming with ideas by the end of the day.

It’s also handy to have photos to look back on when you start consolidating your wish-list. Make sure you grab some brochures, plans and a business card on your way out to remember where you've been and who you've talked to. 

Keep an open mind

Whether you’ve got a clear idea of what you want from your home build or no idea at all, try and approach the Showhome visit with an open mind. Take it as an opportunity to challenge some of the initial ideas you’ve had and try on different styles and layouts.

It’s one thing to browse house plans in a book or on paper, but another to experience what those measurements feel like in real life. If you’ve got a m2 limit to stick to, how you use each of those metres, matters. Take notice where spaces feel right to you.
